Ikebana Workshop with Lynn Bledsoe

  • NANU GALLERY 78 Catawba Avenue, Suite E Old Fort, NC, 28762 United States (map)

Join us for a Saturday afternoon gathering as fourth-year ikebana student and healer, Lynn Bledsoe, teaches us about ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement that emphasizes harmony, balance, and minimalism.

The art involves a disciplined approach to creating arrangements using specific rules and principles, focusing on line, color, space, and the interplay between natural elements. Unlike Western floral arrangements, Ikebana often highlights asymmetry and negative space, creating a sense of tranquility and connection with nature.

This workshop will include an educational presentation, hands-on demonstration, individual support, arrangements, light snacks, and beverages. Please email us if you have any dietary restrictions.

$65 per person. Pre-registration required.

About our teacher: Lynn Bledsoe lives in the woods of Sugar Hollow in Fairview, NC.  She holds certificates in the areas of conscious age-ing (Sage-ing International), contemplative practice (Center for Action and Contemplation), and bedside therapeutic music (Music for Healing and Transition Program).  She has served as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian USA denomination for over two decades - as a hospice chaplain and in parish and retirement community ministry.  She is the mother of four adult children and MIMI to four grandchildren.  In retirement, she has directed her focus to studying Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging.  She has completed her fourth year of study in the Ichiyo School under Sensei Judi Efland.  She has provided arrangements for several exhibitions for the Asheville Chapter of Ikebana International. Lynn enjoys growing materials for Ikebana in her garden, as well as hiking, cooking, teaching, and playing the Celtic harp with the harp circle of Montreat Presbyterian Church.
