“Waves of grief are inevitable, but the real journey is learning how to ride the storm and mend the damage.” - Katie McWeeney
When Hurricane Helene flooded the gallery, it damaged more than just the space, it transformed Katie’s relationship with recovery itself. This collection features paintings and mixed-media artwork literally rescued from the floodwaters. Recovering chronicles both the physical act of salvaging art and Kate’s more profound exploration of what it means to heal, as an individual and as part of Old Fort’s ongoing recovery after the storm. Through pigments, stitches, charcoal, clay, and water, we can all find connection and reflection through this act of making.
Join us for an evening of art, community, and refreshments as we celebrate the beauty that emerges from healing.
Exhibition runs through October 26, 2025.
Gallery hours: Thursday - Saturday 12:00 - 6:00pm, or by appointment
